About The Show

Bonding over business, community and motherhood, Em and Aim came together to create the Born in the Bend Podcast in the spring of 2020. Highlighting local gems, entrepreneurs, and awesome stories originating in Fort Bend, the podcast arose out of a desire to foster community, create a sense of place, and instill pride in calling Fort Bend County home. Having grown up in Pecan Grove, Emily brings the native Texan voice to the table, while Aimee, a South Louisiana transplant, brings the outsider’s perspective. Their combined life experiences make for entertaining interviews, pulling different story angles from their guests and offering two versions of Fort Bend – where it’s been, and where it’s going.

Born in the Bend launched in the spring of 2020, and has since published over 20 episodes, featuring long format interviews with guests like Steve Onstad, founder of the Swinging Door BBQ, Shannan Stavinoha, Executive Director of Parks Youth Ranch, Joey Lenderman, owner of Enchanted Gardens Richmond, and Zach Lambert, Founder of Mercy Goods.

Em & Aim record and release episodes in a seasonal format and are open to working with local partners to tell their stories. If you’re wondering if Em & Aim are the right partners for you, visit the sponsor page for more details.

More from Em

Hey y’all! I’m Em, Fort Bend native with roots that run deep. I’m married to a Richmond local and together we raise two little ones. From 2018 to 2021 I ran The Guild in historic downtown Richmond and loved every second of the art workshops, farm to table dinners, and special events. I now spend my time exploring my extensive cookbook collection, hustling kids to activities, and traveling around the world…when Aimee and I aren’t having conversations with folks from Fort Bend. Jokingly called the “Em-magineer” amongst friends, I love being able to share with all of you everything on the social calendar and how to make every minute more magical.

More from Aim

Hey y’all! Aim here. You might recognize me from my little coffee house in downtown Richmond, TX - Blockhouse Coffee & Kitchen. I’m a wife and mom of two, and absolutely love meeting new people, hearing your stories, and building community through relationships. In addition to nurturing my family, some of my interests include weightlifting, cooking, reading, road-tripping, and discussing how to improve our built environment. I have a tendency to jump head first into the deep end on new topics, and my current dives include Gregorian Chant and urban planning.
